Easy Methods To Add Passport Pages

Although a United States passport has thirty-two sheets when it is issued, they do tend to fill up quickly if one travels often. You may want to consider adding passport pages when you get to the last four or five sheets or a fast U.S. passport. Since some countries require quite a bit of space for their stamp or to attach a visa, you do not want to chance refusal of entry because your document does not have enough sheets.

Expiration Date

The expiration date of the travel document will help in deciding whether to add new passport pages. If your document will expire soon a pasport renewal rather than refills might be more sensible. Paying for refills and soon after having to renew the document is not very cost efficient.

Country Requirements

Even if the document is due to expire within a year, it is more cost effective to pay for a renewal rather than purchase a refill. Keep in mind when making your decision that some countries will not allow entry into their country if the document will expire within six months. Renewing the document nine months prior to the date of expiration will avoid any problems when traveling.

Need To Add US Passport Pages To Your Passport?

You will need to add passport pages if you fall under either of these two categories: (1) you have less than two to four pages left in your passport, or (2) you are a frequent traveler in need of a new passport book. If you fall under one of the two, then you’ll likely want to know how to add passport pages to your current passport. Read on and we’ll show you exactly how to do it.

Let’s discuss the first category first. If you are a passport holder, and your passport has less than two to four pages in it, you’ll need to request additional passport pages. But why request pages so soon? That’s because it will save you a lot of time when you do that now, rather than when you are already about to travel.

There are two requirements when requesting for passport pages in this situation. First, you need to fulfill Form DS-4085. This is the form you fill in every time you need to request for additional passport pages. Once you are done filling in the details, you can then mail the DS-4085 to the address indicated in the form, along with your current US passport.

When applying for additional passport pages, you are not required to pay anything to have it processed. However, you will have to pay an additional fee should you decide to have your application expedited. When getting an expedited passport, make sure you write ‘EXPEDITED’ on the envelope before mailing it. Having it expedited cuts your waiting time from four to six weeks to just two to three weeks.

Now, on to the next situation. If you travel frequently, then chances are you quickly fill up your United States passport book faster than most people. In this instance, you need to apply for a new passport book once the passport pages run out. This will require a different procedure altogether.

If you are a frequent traveler in need of a new passport book, you will have to submit a signed letter requesting for additional passport pages. Then you will also have to mail it along with the completed DS-82 form, which allows you to apply for a passport by mail. However, if you are not eligible to do this, you can fill in the DS-11, and then submit it personally at the passport office.

When submitting your form by mail, make sure that you choose a traceable method of delivery. This ensures that your documents are received by the intended recipient. Also place your documents in an envelope that isn’t easily damaged, to ensure that it is in good condition once it arrives at the passport office for processing.

The Quickest Way To Add Passport Pages

When travelers are on their way out the door headed to the airport is not an ideal time to realize that new passport pages must be added to their passbooks. Anyone planning a trip requiring a passport should check the passbook to see if it needs more pages. These can be ordered and received with time left to spare before the trip, avoiding a potentially stressful situation.

Travelers who have less than two to four pages left in their passbooks are eligible to add more. People who travel regularly will know when they have reached this point but those who do not will need to dust off the passbook and take a look. If the book is filling up with stamps, it may be time to order additional sheets.

The process is relatively simple and requires only completing one government form, DS-4085, which can be found on the U.S. Department of State Web site. The form may be completed online and then printed, signed, and dated or the blank form may be printed and then completed by hand. Applicants who elect to complete the form by hand should make sure that all information supplied is legible. Anything that cannot be read by the government agents may cause a delay in processing times.

Those who do not have access to the Internet can obtain form DS-4085 from a Passport Agency or Acceptance Facility. In order to have the update made to the passbook, the completed DS-4085 form must be submitted with the current valid US passport. The addition of passport pages is free to users who opt for standard processing. The Department of State advises that applicants mail the documents using a mail service that provides confirmation of delivery.

The amount of time that is required to process these requests is between four and six weeks. Travelers who need the passbook back before that time can opt for expedited passport processing. This will provide them with the updated book within two to three weeks. The expedited service charge is $60.00 and may be paid via money order or check. The package must be labeled with the words “expedite” on the outside and the use of an overnight delivery service is recommended.

Travelers who are especially crunched for time should consider using a private company to speed the process of getting additional sheets for the passbook. These services can return the updated passbook to the traveler within two business days or less. However, getting this rush processing will cost the traveler several hundred dollars plus shipping charges, in addition to the $60.00 government expedited processing fee.

These companies will require that the applicant complete the DS-4085 form. The applicant will also need to complete a letter of authorization stipulating that the company may act on his or her behalf. In addition, proof of departure will be required if the applicant is requesting that the documents be processed in seven or fewer business days. A copy of the airline ticket, flight itinerary, or letter from an employer stating that the passport is required for business travel may serve as this proof.

The process of getting additional passport pages is not complicated, but it does require some time. It is best that a passbook holder complete and submit the DS-4085 form and passbook to the government as soon as the need for additional sheets is discovered. Expedited government processing or use of the rush service provided by a private company are alternatives that will shorten the processing time.

The London Experience

My most memorable vacation that I ever went on was to London. Before I left, I spent a day getting US passport extra pages, packing my power converters, and exchanging currency. I had always wanted to go to London. Filled to the brim with culture and history, I became engulfed in this ancient yet novel city. Unlike some of the most populated cities we know today, London is refreshingly void of steel skyscrapers and smoggy factories. The week I spent there only knew sunshine and all I needed was to throw on a jacket. Everyday was something completely different than the one before, and as soon as I can get another opportunity, you can find me in London.

Some get discouraged from traveling due to all the processes involved. While I was getting additional passport pages, my mom was telling me how she disliked traveling because of all the planning that’s involved. However, once you spend a while exploring and experiencing, the stress becomes irrelevant. Trust me.

London is the epitome of the artistic world. Aside from the beautiful museums, monstrous statues, and breathtaking buildings, even the street art is amazing. Even though walking through London itself is like walking through a living museum, the museums of London are something you do not want to miss. If you have a love for art as I do, a whole week could be spent just exploring the various museums that populate the city of London. The Victoria and Albert Museum, or just simply the V and A Museum, holds pieces that span every facet of art: from ancient artifacts to fashion. Rooms filled to the brim with authentic historical pieces really put existence into perspective; it’s easy to feel pretty small when standing in the midst of artifacts hundreds or thousands of years old.

I also got to explore the Tate Modern Museum. Before I had explored it, I was generally disillusioned by the modern art I had previously experienced. However, stepping into this huge hangar-like building, I was instantly amazed by the variety of art that I saw in front of me. I spent hours not only looking at but also interacting with all the modern art, some laced with such powerful messages that left me feeling inspired.

The peak experience of my trip was getting to experience Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. As an English major, I hold an engrossing love for William Shakespeare and his plays, and getting to see them performed at their home was a truly humbling experience. I decided that the “groundling” experience was the way to go, being a little short on money. I had hit the gift shop, and had let loose a little to much. How could I resist the “Montague & Capulet” tote bag? I couldn’t. The play was incredible, and although my feet ached a little, it was easily disregarded when getting to stand at the edge of the stage. The atmosphere was so unique, and there was a vast difference from the theatre experiences I had previously been acquainted with.

If there is somewhere you’ve always wanted to go, whether it’s London, Paris, or Tokyo, just go. Something is calling you there, and probably for good reason. So get yourself a new passport, pack your bags, and be ready for the trip of a lifetime.
