Kyoto – At The Heart Of Japanese History

Kyoto, Japan is famous for it’s blend of fast-paced, ultra-modern, and neon-lighted city life with the tranquil natural areas and spiritual sites. Kyoto was once the capital of Japan, and is similar to Tokyo in many ways. Another neat place to see is Iwatayama monkey park, also called Monkey Mountain. This park features 170 Japanese macaque monkeys that roam around the park freely. Admission is required, but it is totally worth it. The monkeys aren’t afraid of humans, especially if you come bearing food.

Gardens and museums are part of the cultural experience. If someone in your travel group likes trains, consider visiting the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum, where there are 19 old steam locomotives on display. Manga is a huge part of Japanese culture, and it’s becoming very popular in the United States today. The Kyoto International Manga Museum is a good stop if you have a manga fan with you. The Kyoto Botanical Garden is an absolutely stunning place to visit. The atmosphere is overwhelmingly tranquil.
